What is earwax?

Naturally produced in the ear canal, earwax moisturises and protects them from dust, germs, irritation and even insects.

Some people can have problems with excess earwax, or it may get stuck in their ears. In these cases, people can suffer from discomfort or reduced hearing and can benefit from having the earwax removed.

What is ear micro-suction?

Micro-suction is one of the best ways to remove earwax. Once our trained advisers have assessed your ear canal, they’ll use a gentle suction device to remove any earwax blockages.

This suction device acts like a vacuum cleaner, helping to loosen and remove any impacted earwax. Once the procedure is over, we’ll use a microscope to check over your ears.

Previously, using an ear syringe with water was a common way to get rid of earwax, however microsuction is a quick and much safer method.

Safe for Children

Ear care Midland limited; we are one of the few services in the west midlands that offer ear wax removal/ micro suction for the children.

Some people try removing ear wax at home, using over the counter medicine or oil that soften the ear wax and make it easier to remove.

Children’s ears are small and sensitive. Introducing cotton buds or anything in your child’s ear can cause damage such as perforated ear drum and infection.

It is always recommended to consult your doctor or the ear care specialist if you have any concerns about hard wax in your child`s ear.

Here at ear care midland limited, you are guaranteed a peace of mind knowing that Ear Care specialist will look after your child’s ears

HOW TO PREPARE

We advise that you do not use a cotton bud as this may push the wax deeper into the ear canal and make it more difficult to remove and could potentially damage your ear or ear drum.

A spray known as Earol is ideal for this. Read the instructions leaflet carefully and use for 7-10 days between 2-4 times daily before your appointment. Other sprays or drops are not always suitable and may prevent us from being able to carry out the removal.

Olive oil may soften the wax and it may clear after time, but generally the feeling of blockage continues and can be frustrating. Professional ear wax removal is usually a quick and easy process.
